I have been working on Windows OS and own worked on Unix or Linux very very little. If I host my web site next to a Linux hosting provider, then will it be easy for me to work on my web site as site administrator? I close-fisted, will the user interface be easy to use? Consider a web site, which will be an interaction place for teachers and students. From time to time, diverse education-related articles, including videos, will be posted in the web site. There will be discussion forums. There will be way to upload and download documents. Also, there will be interactive whiteboard.
For the above purposes, would you prefer linux hosting or windows hosting, and why? What specific facilities would you expect from the hosting provider?

Linux is a better OS for servers, because it's very much approaching UNIX (which is an even better server OS).
Windows is a bit more user-friendly for people who are inexperienced with server administration, but it's really not as ably adapted to the server role, in part because so much of the computer's capacity is fruitless on a graphic user interface. It's more secure than Linux if it is configured correctly, but it's pretty tedious to lock down a Windows server. Windows is adjectives mainly if you are using Windows-only server applications on the machine, such as Microsoft Exchange Server or SQL Server.
I actually prefer hosting on neither Windows nor Linux. I prefer material UNIX and its descendants, especially FreeBSD. And I run the server without a graphic user interface, because a graphic interface only just wastes resources on a server.
I want to go for Linux because it has better scalability, wellbeing and other features.
WordPress runs on PHP/MySQL so it wouldn't matter if it's on Linux on Windows.
But if you want something serious, go with Linux.
I agree next to others, Linux is a better OS for hosting.
